Discover how the wisdom of your body knows
what is needed for integrative growth

Focusing-Oriented Psychotherapy understands that our bodies carry an intricate 'knowing' about what is needed for growth. Steps of change emerge that express both our uniqueness and our relatedness with all of life. We learn a subtle kind of inner listening to access a directly sensed "something" in the body that is mind/body/spirit already together (we call this a Felt Sense). Through this open attending, fresh meanings emerge that are embodied in our living. Our bodies ease and our hearts open more fully into life. We experience courage to make a change outside our normal patterns or assumptions. We become free to move forward with greater authenticity and a feeling of rich aliveness. more...

I have recently relocated to the Sacramento, California area after practicing as a Focusing-Oriented psychotherapist, trainer, and educator for over 30 years in the Chicago area. Learning how to be with myself in a Focusing-Oriented way changed my life. I was the founding director of The Focusing Institute, and currently am a Certifying Coordinator. I have taught Focusing through local, national, and international workshops and programs. (www.focusing.org) As a psychotherapist I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and small groups throughout the lifespan. I have conveniently located offices in Sacramento and Woodland.

I have special expertise in the area of Mind/Body Healing, and help people discover how to listen to information that comes through the body to guide our healing process. Both my research and 7 years of working at a Center for Complementary Medicine have refined my work. more...

Both Focusing and my background in religious studies contribute to my embodied approach for integrating emotional growth and spiritual development. more...
